Does your front entry look the same, day after day, month after month, year after year?  If that sounds just like your home, why not try to dress things up a bit with a some great door decorating ideas.  You don't have to be a design guru to make your home look attractive during all four seasons, nor do you need to have a big budget.

Door décor is often overlooked and instead attention is focused more on the inside of the home, rather than the outside.  Even on the most attractive homes that are built in the nicest neighborhoods, door décor is so often overlooked.  Since your front door is the first thing that your guests will see when they arrive at your home, don't you think it's time you dressed it up to give your home a classy, distinctive and chic look?  Below are some ideas that will help you turn a boring front entry to an attractive and welcoming entry door.

Wreaths – These aren't just for Christmas, but can be added to your front entry door anytime of the year.  While a nice evergreen wreath is nice around Christmas, you can use a wreath made of many different items, any time of the year.  Consider making a wreath from grapevine, twigs or wheat sheaths.  Add items like ribbon, paint and rope to bring it all together.  If you are the creative type, you can really run with this and you are only held back by your imagination.

Planters – Your front entry consists of more than just your door as well.  Generally there's an area around your door that can be dressed up.  Add planters with various types of flowers or some small shrubs to bring nature into your entry area.

Furniture – Your front entry can be enhanced by the use of furniture.  Consider a wrought-iron or wood bench, or maybe even a set of two chairs.  Make sure to tie them in to the overall look of your home.

Door Decorations – Some of these can be quite tacky, but many door hangers or decorations are also quite nice.  Some people choose to change them with each season, so you may have a snowman in the winter and a steel sunflower in the summer.  These can be purchased at gift stores, flea markets, country stores and many other places.  If you're handy, you can also make door decorations, which certainly adds a personal touch to your home.

Giving a great first impression is what door decorations are all about.  If you entertain a lot, you want your friends and acquaintances to feel welcome as soon as they walk up to you front entry and it's always nice to add a little character to your home.  Whether it's a nice “welcome” sign that invites your friends in, or a stylish wreath made of seasonal items, make sure not to neglect your front door decorations.  If you spend so much time on things that no one will ever see, why wouldn't you invest into the first thing that gets seen when you have visitors?
